The industrial revolution, that took place at the beginning of the Victorian Age, changed drammatically the social structure and the economy of English society. Already at the time the population understood that a new era had begun.
In addition the symbol of the Industrial Revolution was the urban slums, as a matter of fact the pollution growth caused by factories prevented a proper cultivation in countryside thus a lot of people moved to the large cities.
