Charles Dickens

Charles Dickens
Charles Dickens was born in Portsmouth in 1812 and he's considered, thanks to his popular social novels, one of the best and most important novelist of all time.
Considered by many the first modern writer, he was, even in his days, a best-seller author, capable to meet the demands of the English (and not only) audiences.
When he was a boy he was forced to work, because of his father's absence, in a factory. The experience was so traumatic that largely influenced his working.
Known for Oliver Twist, Hard Times and David Copperfield.
